Kidsports Invitational

Brief Description

Tournament History

The James H. Warsaw 3-on-3 Classic is now the KIDSPORTS Invitational Powered by the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center

The KIDSPORTS Invitational is a student run 3-on-3 basketball tournament at University of Oregon's Matthew Knight Arena. It began in 1998 to give University of Oregon sports marketing students the opportunity to gain valuable event marketing experience while championing an important cause. For the past 15 years the tournament has raised money for Parkinson’s disease research as well as the Stephen Dember Memorial Scholarship Fund, while providing hundreds of students a real-world learning experience.

This year's 2013 tournament gives students the same experiential learning opportunity, while also benefiting an additional cause. This year the fundraising effort will seek to strengthen the KIDSPORTS Emerald Scholarship Fund in addition to the Stephen Dember Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Stephen Dember Memorial Scholarship is the first scholarship for an undergraduate student studying Sports Marketing at the University of Oregon and is named in honor of Stephen Dember, a Sports Marketing student who passed away a few summers ago but left a legacy.

For its second year, the former Warsaw Classic has been re-positioned into a community tournament, for local youth of Eugene and Springfield who participate in KIDSPORTS basketball. Now officially titled The KIDSPORTS Invitational Powered by the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center, the tournament will host 72 teams and roughly 360 players. We encourage all members of the community to stop by and experience the tournament at our beautiful venue, Matthew Knight Arena.
